Balance Number
A minor but revealing number drawn from the initials of your full birth name, describing how you behave under pressure โ the instinct you fall back on when composure fails.
The Balance Number answers a question the core numbers largely ignore: not who you are on an ordinary day, but what you do when things go wrong. It is calculated from the initials of your birth name alone, on the reasoning that initials are the compressed, abbreviated form of a name โ and stress compresses a person in exactly the same way.
Most people have a default crisis behaviour they have never consciously chosen. Some go quiet and withdraw. Some become brisk and managerial. Some talk, at length, to anyone who will listen. Some go looking for someone to blame. The Balance Number names that reflex and, more usefully, names the corrective: it describes not only where you go under pressure but what you actually need in order to come back.
It is regarded as a minor number because it is dormant most of the time. In a settled life you may go years without meeting your Balance Number at all. Its value is entirely situational, which is also why it is one of the more practically useful figures in a chart โ it is the one you can do something with at precisely the moment everything else has stopped helping.
How to calculate
Take the first letter of each of your names โ first, middle and last โ convert each to its Pythagorean value, add them, and reduce to a single digit. Example: Mary Anne Smith โ M(4) + A(1) + S(1) = 6. Balance Number 6.
