Full Name vs. Birth Name
The rule that all name-based core numbers are calculated from the full name on the birth certificate โ not the name you currently use.
This is the single most common error in amateur numerology, and it invalidates every name-derived number in a chart. The Destiny, Soul Urge and Personality numbers are calculated from the complete name as recorded at birth: every given name, every middle name, the surname, exactly as written on the certificate. Not the shortened version. Not the married name. Not the name people actually call you.
The reasoning is that the birth name is held to be the name the soul arrived under โ a fixed point, chosen at the threshold, and therefore the correct input for the numbers describing what a person came here to do. A nickname is something the world did to you afterwards. It is not that the used name is meaningless; it is that it answers a different question, and mixing the two produces a chart that describes nobody.
Where a current name genuinely does matter, it is calculated separately and read alongside the birth chart rather than replacing it. A woman who has taken a married name, an author writing under a pseudonym, a person who has legally changed their name after transition โ each has a live, working second name whose vibration is real and is doing something. Numerology handles this by running two charts, not by overwriting the first.
How to calculate
Use the full name exactly as it appears on the birth certificate, including all middle names, for the Destiny, Soul Urge and Personality numbers. Calculate any current or chosen name as a separate, additional chart.
