Name Correction
The practice of deliberately altering the spelling of a name to change its numerological vibration โ mainstream in India, contentious elsewhere.
Name correction is the practice of adjusting a name โ usually by adding, doubling or dropping a letter โ so that it sums to a more favourable number. It is enormously widespread in India, where it is common for a person to add a letter on a numerologist's advice, and where the extra A or doubled consonant in a Bollywood name is very often a deliberate numerological intervention rather than a spelling quirk. Chaldean numerology, which treats the sound of a name as its active principle, is the usual system employed.
The theory rests on a specific claim: that the birth name sets the karmic conditions but the used name generates the daily vibration, and that changing what is spoken and written therefore changes what is experienced. This is why practitioners insist a corrected name must actually be used โ signed, said aloud, printed, answered to โ before it does anything. A change made on paper and never spoken is held to be inert.
Western numerology is markedly more sceptical, and the objection is not merely aesthetic. If the birth name encodes what a person came here to do, then correcting it to something more comfortable risks muting the very difficulty the chart was built around. The counter-argument is that no practitioner claims a corrected name overwrites the birth chart โ the Life Path is untouched by any of this, and the birth name's Destiny remains what it always was. What changes, on this account, is the surface a person presents to the world, which is not nothing.
How to calculate
Calculate the current name in Chaldean or Pythagorean values, identify the target number, then test small spelling variants until one produces it. The birth-name chart is retained alongside it; only the working name changes.
